The Presidents of Ukraine and Azerbaijan – Petro Poroshenko and Ilham Aliyev - discussed strengthening of ties in economic, political, energy, transport, military and technical sectors, as well as intensification of cooperation within international organizations.

Under the previously inked contract, Ukraine's state-owned aircraft manufacturer Antonov will sell its 10 military transport planes AN-178 to Azerbaijan.

Petro Poroshenko said that sending Ukrainian AN-178 cargo airplanes to Baku is one of the most promising projects. In the nearest future such aircrafts will be jointly produced in Azerbaijan.

"A successful realization of the project will allow Ukrainian manufacturers to actively develop on new markets", Ukraine's President declared.

Ilham Aliyev, commenting on the Protocol of the 5th Presidential Council between Ukraine and Azerbaijan, said the following: "The visit of Petro Poroshenko to Azerbaijan is highly important at the current level of our bilateral relations. I am sure we will have great results in the future that will bring our nations together".

The Ukrainian and Azerbaijani parties also expressed interest in resuming the Odesa-Brody crude oil pipe-line, which connects the Ukrainian cities of Odesa at the Black Sea and Brody near the Ukrainian-Polish border.

The Republic of Azerbaijan exports big amounts of its oil to the European market, that is why the project is essential for both countries.

"We discussed in detail the issue of the Odesa-Brody project realization and ordered to resume it", Aliyev stated.
