EU has agreed to expand quotas for the Ukrainian exports of cereals, tomatoes, honey, fertilizers, footwear, electronic equipment, and certain metals

"I am glad to be able to bring some good news to our Ukrainian friends. Yesterday, the European Commission adopted a proposal to give Ukrainian producers more and better access to the EU market for a number of agricultural and industrial products, such as cereals, processed tomatoes and honey, but also fertilizers, footwear, electronic equipment and certain metals," European Commissioner Cecilia Malmstrom wrote in her blog, UNIAN reports.

She added that in this proposal the Bloc will top up the amounts of exports allowed by the Ukraine-EU Association Agreement. "I believe that these improvements can bring tangible economic and political support to Ukraine, given the complicated situation in which this country is," Malmstrom wrote.

"The progress so far is clear. The Ukrainian economy is now growing again, and its exports to the EU increased by 5% in the first few months since our Association Agreement became effective. As we go further, I want our partners in Ukraine to know that they can count on the full support of the EU, each step of the way," wrote the EU Commissioner.

The DCFTA was enforced on January 1, 2016. The Ukrainian exports grew by 6.7% in January-July 2016 compared with the same period last year, amounting to .5 billion, UNIAN adds.

As reported, this week key committee of the European Parliament backed cancelling visas for Ukrainians. Ukrainian Speaker of the House earlier informed, that next week EP will vote for Ukrainians to be 'free citizens in the free world'
