Slovakia will be holding presidency of EU Council for the next six months
Due to the reverse gas, Slovakia helped Ukraine get rid of gas dependence on Russia.
This was reported by Maryna Vorotnyuk, lecturer of the Comenius University in Bratislava, commenting on Slovakia's presidency of the EU Council for the next six months, Ukrainian media report.
"In fact, through providing reverse gas, Slovakia helped us stop being reliable on Russian gas", Maryna Vorotnyuk said.
According to her, it is the 'golden age' in the Ukrainian-Slovak relations now.
Vorotnyuk also said that during Slovakia's presidency in the EU Council one should not count on any breakthrough and unexpected solutions.
"The presidency does not imply that the presiding country will shape the agenda with issues that will be completely new and not supported by the European community", said Vorotnyuk.
