A lot has already been done in the customs service sector, Oleksandr Danyliuk says

The customs reform should be conducted the same way the National Police was reshaped because this is the only efficient method to eliminate corruption, hire new staff and change approaches to their functional roles.

Oleksandr Danyliuk, Ukraine's Finance Minister, said that, according to UNIAN news agency.

"I am sure that the situation with customs can be changed likewise the national police was changed", Danyliuk said. "There are functional duties, there are people, who perform these duties".

He added that a lot was done so far to reform Ukraine's customs service.

The Minister said that the measures already taken won't have quick effect - this effect may take several months to be noticeable.

"It is impossible to estimate (the effect - UNIAN) considering last month's figures. Let's look at what figures will be like in a few months", the Minister suggested.

On July 4, 2016, Volodymyr Groysman, Ukraine's Prime-Minister, announced that a large-scale customs reform will be launched, considering US experts' recommendations. They should provide their reform plan for the customs service and border control process, which will allow Ukrainian authorities to change a current situation and fight corruption.

As experts estimate, annually Ukraine loses USD 4 billion (UAH 100 billion) due to tax avoidance.
