Foreign manufacturers of railway equipment interested in providing their products to Ukraine

American Diversified Corporation General Electric, a manufacturer of many types of equipment, including locomotives, will soon provide Ukraine with its locomotive for testing it on local railways, Volodymyr Omelyan, Ukraine's Infrastructure Minister said, according to Ukrainian media

"We are finalizing an agreement on testing a locomotive. I think, we will sign the deal either this or the next week. Afterwards, the locomotive will be delivered to Ukraine for a six-month test", Omelyan said.

He also added that he is preparing a memorandum on cooperation with General Electric, similar to the memorandum inked with the Canadian company Bombardier on July 11, which envisages setting up a joint venture in Ukraine to produce locomotives and other equipment.

The Minister said that foreign manufacturers of railway equipment are interested in delivering its products to the Ukrainian market. However, Ukrainian state-owned railway network operator Ukrzaliznytsia should develop a five-year plan to upgrade and modernize the vehicle stock. According to Omelyan, the corresponding document is being developed.
