Yesterday, a driver, who was stopped by police patrol because of a traffic violation, killed one officer and injured the other, who later died in a hospital during surgery. The driver fired several bullets at police officers and then disappeared from the crime scene.

"They had no need to be affraid as they checked his documents and his identity through the police database. That's the reason he shot them, he was on a wanted list", the Head of Ukraine's National Police, Khatiya Dekanoidze, said.

Oleksandr Puhachov, the gunman, has been on the wanted list by Ukraine's law enforcement agencies since 2015. He has previous offences of kidnapping, sex assault and establishing a criminal organization.

Later that day, he was found in a local hospital with a stomach wound, where police arrested him.

Artem Kutushev had a daughter, who turned 3 yesterday, the day of his death. Olha Makarenko was a mother of two. The city authorities have promised to help the families with everything they might need.
