The man is suspected of embezzling more than USD 20 million (UAH 530 million) of Ukraine's State Agency reserve in 2008-2010, according to the SBU press-centre.

When inspecting his activities (six years), law enforcement officers found evidence of an abuse of replenishing food reserve. The criminal proceedings were launched against the man. To avoid liability, the businessman went beyond Ukraine and had been hidding in South America for six years.

The Ukrainian court chose detention or USD 2 million bail (UAH 50 million) as a preventive measure for the deputy director. The pre-trial investigation is under way.
