Russian-backed separatists continued to attack Ukraine's forces despite ceasefire deal
The Russian-backed separatist forces violated ceasefire 11 times in the past 24 hours. They attacked the positions of the Ukrainian soldiers near the cities of Mariupol and Donetsk. Official Kyiv reported, the militants continued to use weapons prohibited by the Minsk agreements.
"The pro-Russian bandits shelled the Ukrainian forces with 120-mm calibre mortars, banned by Minsk, as well as grenade launchers and assault rifles. Enemy sniper opened fire near Donetsk", Ukraine's military reported.
The separatists were also active in the Luhansk region. They used high-calibre machine guns and mortars.
The shootings in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions occurred in a blow to the ceasefire deal, which was agreed upon at the end of April.
The guns were supposed to stay silent during the Easter and May holidays. However, in the next few days after the agreement was reached, the Russian-backed separatists attacked and killed 2 Ukrainian soldiers.
