Number of explosions in Donbas increase dramatically - OSCE monitors

SMM noted artillery, tank and mortar fire in both Donetsk and Luhansk regions

The OSCE Special Monitoring Mission noted an increase in the number of ceasefire violations recorded in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, today's report of the observers states. The SMM observed more ceasefire violations in Donetsk region, with 198 explosions compared with the previous reporting period (144 explosions). All but ten of the 198 explosions were recorded in the area of Avdiivka-Yasynuvata-Donetsk airport.

In Luhansk region, the SMM recorded 222 explosions compared with six the previous day. General number includes explosions caused by automatic-grenade-launchers (AGS-17), mortars (82mm and 120mm), artillery (122mm) and tanks (125mm), and "uncountable bursts and shots from anti-aircraft guns, heavy machine-gun and small arms".

The Mission continued to monitor the disengagement process near Stanytsia Luhanska, Zolote and Petrivske. It was restricted in its freedom of movement, including in the areas of Petrivske and Zolote. The SMM observed the presence of mines and saw demining being carried out.
