Ilmi Umerov was reportedly taken to Simferopol
The Vice Chairman of National Mejilis of the Crimean Tatar People Ilmi Umerov was detained by Russia's FSB security service on May 12.
According to sources in Crimea, Umerov was forcibly taken from his home and brought to FSB directorate in Simferopol.
Like other Crimean Tatars, who were recently detained in the Russian-occupied peninsula, Umerov is suspected of ‘extremist activities' and ‘public calls and actions aimed to undermine the territorial integrity of Russia.'
Earlier today four other Crimean Tatars were arrested by the Russian police. The so-called local authorities accused them of taking part in "terrorist organisation" Hizb ut-Tahrir, prohibited by Russia.
