Top Yanukovych era MP detained (again)

Oleksanr Yefremov is suspected of undermining territorial integrity of Ukraine

Oleksandr Yefremov, the former leader of the Party of Regions parliamentary faction was detained on Saturday, Ukraine's Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko reported in his Facebook posting.

According to Lutsenko, the top official of ex-president Victor Vanukovych's party is suspected of violating Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Yefremov was detained in Kyiv's Boryspil Airport, where he had a flight to Vienna.

In February last year the former Ukrainian lawmaker and the governor of Luhansk region had been arrested on suspicion of funding militants occupying the country's two easternmost regions.

He later was released on bail, with his criminal case closed later in March 2016.
