Russia keeps up flooding Donbas with its regular troops and sophisticated weapons

"Security situation in Donbas is dramatically worsening. Russia-led terrorist forces continue to blatantly violate ceasefire and heavy weapons withdrawal commitments under the Minsk agreements," says the new statement published by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine on June 24, 2016.

In the detailed report the ministry highlights losses of the Ukrainian army in the past week which come as a result of using heavy weapons by the combined Russian/militant forces.

"7 Ukrainian soldiers were killed and 18 were wounded between 16 and 21 June. On 22 June 2016, 1 Ukrainian soldier was killed and 11 were wounded; over 300 mortar shells and more than 160 projectiles were fired at Ukrainian positions," the ministry says, adding that the current shelling intensity is similar to an active fighting phase of August 2015.

The MFA of Ukraine makes reference to the numerous violations of the Minsk accords, including the flights of reconnaissance and attack drones, shelling from high caliber mortars, blocking activities of OSCE SMM monitors, arrival of the latest ‘humanitarian' convoy with an unknown cargo, and the intensified buildup of Russian forces and military equipment in Donbas.

The report is enforced with photo evidence of verified cases of Russian armaments and ammunition transferred to the occupied areas of eastern Ukraine.

Summing up, the ministry reiterates that "full implementation of the security provisions of the Minsk agreements by Russia and its puppets is the only way to create a solid security ground, required for progress on other aspects of Minsk."
