Airport greets millionth passenger with ballerina, balloons and gifts

The millionth passenger of 2016, Karolina Karpovich, turns out to be a pregnant woman, traveling to Wroclaw with her boyfriend 

The millionth passenger, Karolina Karpovich, was accompanied by her boyfriend, Vladimir Shevchenko. The pair was greeted with music and balloons at the hall of the airport; the guests of Zhulyany airoport were entertained with an unexpected ballet performance. The ballerina emerged from a registration counter.

Pregnant Karolina Karpovich said to the crowd that gathered around the lucky passenger that in reality she travels not only with her boyfriend, but with her future baby, so the airport were greeting not just two people, but three. The administration of Kyiv International Airport, Zhulyany, presented to Vladimir and Karolina a gift - a ballerina doll. Vladimir Shevchenko said: "I wish the airport could meet any passenger with ballet, balloons and gifts.



The airport has also provided both of the passengers with the service, that enables passengers to pass all the controls in a much simpler way.

The couple took a 15:40 flight, Kyiv-Wroclaw provided by a low-cost airline, Wizz Air. The lucky ones are going on vacation for a couple of days to Wroclaw, Poland, to celebrate Karolina's birthday – tomorrow she is turns 30. The pair will celebrate the event in Poland with Karolina's university friends.

The millionth passenger confessed that nobody had informed her beforehand about her sudden luck and the incident was a total surprise. Karolina Karpovich said that they wanted to leave Ukraine without many people knowing about it, but now, with all the media attention, it won't be possible.


Galyna Bogdanenko, the head of press-service of the International airport Kyiv, says that the passenger flow this year has increased at Kyiv International airport. She said: "We count every passenger and each passenger is important to us. It is a pleasant thing for us that we have managed to get a million passengers by the end of November."

The millionth passenger was estimated by the airport's electronic system. The airport makes monthly statistics, which is available to public on its website, where it indicates number of passengers every year and the most popular flights among the airport's users.
