Historical drama about horrifying genocidal famine will be released in February 2017

Based on real events, the film tells about one of the darkest periods of Ukraine's history in XXth century. It is to screened next February. Producers have already released the first official trailer.

Bitter Harvest is directed by the German-Canadian filmmaker of Ukrainian descent George Mendeluk. The film tells a romantic story of a young Ukrainian couple torn apart by starvation. The couple is played by Max Irons and Samantha Barks.

The plot unfolds in 1932 when Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin artificially created famine on Ukrainian lands, which we now call the Holodomor. The famine was caused by the food requisition actions carried out by the Soviet authorities. People were barred from moving elsewhere.
