Stunning works of Galician sculptor Johann Georg Pinsel are presented in Vienna

Johann Georg Pinsel is an 18-century Baroque and Rococo sculptor probably of Czech origin. He lived and worked in Galicia, now part of Ukraine. 

There is not much information about Pinsel's life. His full name, date of death and family details were discovered only in 1993.

As historians know so far, Pinsel came to Lviv region around 1750 and became a court artist to Mikołaj Bazyli Potocki.

In 1751 Pinsel married Marianna Majewska and had two sons: Bernard and Antoni. He closely collaborated with the renowned architect Bernard Meretyn.

From November 2012 till February 2013 Pinsel's art was exhibited in Louvre, France.

His works can be seen at an exhibition in the Winter Palais in Vienna, Austria until February 2017.
