A violent day amid alleged truce

Militants keep on attacking Ukraine's soldiers without taking a break, Kyiv claims

Combined Russian-separatist forces attacked Ukrainian army positions in eastern Ukraine 25 times in the past 24 hours, including eight times in the Mariupol sector, eight times in the Donetsk sector and nine times in the Luhansk sector, according to the press center of the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) Headquarters.

In the Luhansk sector, the enemy resorted to armed provocations using grenade launchers, machine guns, and small arms near the villages of Novo-Oleksandrivka, Novozvanivka and Stanytsia Luhanska. The occupiers also fired on the Ukrainian defenders from infantry fighting vehicles near Novozvanivka and Novo-Oleksandrivka.

In the Mariupol sector, the militants opened fire from small arms, machine guns and grenade launchers near the town of Maryinka, and the villages of Talakivka, Starohnativka, Shyrokyne and Vodiane. Additionally, a sniper was active in Shyrokyne and Maryinka.

In the Donetsk sector, the Russian-backed mercenaries fired grenade launchers, machine guns, and small arms near the town of Avdiyivka and the village of Verkhniotoretske.

They also fired 82mm mortars on Avdiyivka, as well as from infantry fighting vehicles and an anti-aircraft gun on the village of Novhorodske. The Ukrainian army spotted one enemy UAV over Donbas in the last day.
