European Commission to propose easing travel restrictions for Ukrainians in April

Petro Poroshenko met with E.U. chiefs in Brussels to discuss a broad range of issues

The European Commission could propose to ease visa restrictions for Ukrainians next month. That's according to Jean-Claude Juncker, the European Commission President. He's in Brussels meeting with Petro Poroshenko, Ukraine's head of state and EU Council chief Donald Tusk.

Mr. Juncker says a recently adopted law on e-declarations and the appointment of new anti-corruption agency staff will ultimately help ease travel restrictions between Ukraine and the E.U. Meanwhile, Mr. Poroshenko says political uncertainty in Kyiv over possible reshuffling in parliament should not hamper future cooperation.

Mr. Poroshenko's visit to the EU headquarters comes a month after a vote of no confidence in Prime Minister Yatsenyuk's government failed to gather enough support. Behind the scenes negotiations continue.

The Ukrainian president is also scheduled to meet German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Francois Hollande, according to reports in Deutsch Welle.
