MH17 investigation expected to be completed by end of year – Malaysian Prime Minister

We want to make sure that those who shot down the civilian aircraft will be brought to liability, Najib Razak said 

The investigation into the crash of Malaysian Airliner MH17 is expected to be completed by the end of the year. This is according to Malaysia's Prime Minister Najib Razak, UNIAN reports.

"We are considering the reports on the investigation and expect it to be completed by the end of 2016", Razak said during the joint press conference with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.

Razak noted that after the publication of the report, representatives of the countries involved in the investigation would have a meeting and coordinate the plan of actions and the order of bringing the perpetrators to justice.

"We want to make sure that those who shot down the civilian aircraft will be brought to liability," he said.

Boeing 777 of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur was shot down in Donetsk region on July 17, 2014. All 298 people on board were killed in a crash. The passengers were citizens of 10 countries.

In order to investigate the tragedy, the joint investigation team was set up on August 7, 2014, including representatives of the prosecutors and other law enforcement bodies of Ukraine, the Netherlands, Belgium, Australia, and Malaysia, as well as representatives of EuroJust.

The Netherlands Safety Board October 13, 2015, issued a report on the causes of the MH17 crash. It was found that the plane was shot down by the Buk anti-aircraft missile.
