International maneuvers are to encompass 25 NATO member states and allies
International military drills 'Anaconda-2016' start in Poland. The opening ceremony is set to be held on Monday, June 6th, in National Defence University of Warsaw.
According to the official website, the upcoming event will be the third to encompass international scale. This year the participants' list includes from 19 NATO member states, as well as 6 partner states from a joint program "The Partnership for Peace" that includes Ukraine.
"The drills are aimed at elaborating the means of joint operations and coalition command during a joint defence operation under hybrid war conditions," reported in the official message of the event.
Maneuvers are to be taken on 7 basic platforms under international staff command. Along with 31, 000 soldiers from 25 countries 3,000 units of military equipment are to be used during the drills, among them 105 aircrafts and 12 war ships.
Earlier in June NATO military drills BALTOPS 2016 kicked off in southern part of the Baltic sea close to Sweden, Denmark, and Poland.
