New twist in war between Anti-Corruption Bureau and Prosecutor General's office

Anti-corruption watchdogs have arrested a senior Prosecution investigator over potential embezzlement 

Ukraine's National Anti-Corruption Bureau detectives have arrested a senior investigator of the Prosecution General's office, Bureau said in a statement Tuesday, September 22.

The institution informed the man, who worked for the Department of special investigation of economic crimes, was accused of embezzlment through property, while he was investigating bribery allegations against a head of a village town in the Cherkassy region.

If the Prosecution's officer is found guilty, he could be sentenced to spend upto 8 years in jail.

The investigation against him is ongoing.

The conflicts between the two agencies have sparked in the past, once almost resulting in a full blown fight. 

Later the heads of the agencies gave a joint briefing, saying Ukraine's Security agency, the SBU, would investigate the disagreement.
