At the same time Omelyan states he is worried about the policy some regional airports are conducting, namely, in Ivano-Frankivsk, Dnipro and Zaporizhia. They give permissions to some air companies, while categorically refusing others.

The Infrastructure Ministry is looking into the situation, Omelyan says. If foul play is detected, the airports could be penalized.

In 2015 Central and Eastern European budget airline Wizz Air announced its intention to close down its Ukrainian subsidiary due to the struggling economic climate, currency depreciation and conflict in the east. Eight of 16 existing flights were cancelled, the rest flights were handed over to the Hungarian division of Wizz Air.

Later Omelyan announced the airline could return to Ukraine as a fully functional company even in 2016.
