Russia finishing construction of new military base near Ukraine

The base is located in Russia's eastern Rostov region 

The construction of a new Russian military base is nearing its completion. It is located in the country's Rostov region, around 100 kilometers from Ukrainian border, according to Euronews.

The Kremlin is expected to deploy some 10,000 servicemen to the base, which consists of three military facilities.

It is also the latest site in a chain of military bases that Moscow considers an important counterpoint to NATO.

The construction is taking place amid the tensions with Ukraine and the West. Kyiv has been cautious about Russian troops near its borders since the Kremlin annexed Crimea and instigated a war in Donbas.

Some experts believe Russia is amassing troops around Ukraine to keep the country in check in the future.
