The monitors were shelled on Friday, August 20, near the town of Svitlodarsk close to the positions of Ukraine's armed forces where they were recording the evidence of ceasefire violations in Kalynivka. According to the Centre, the militants have earlier used mortar systems banned under Minsk agreements.

Kremenetskyi said during the shelling the personnel managed to find cover and did not suffer injuries.

The incident was immediately reported to the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission in Ukraine.
