According to OSCE, heavy weapons are back to the contact line
UPDATE: One Ukrainian soldier is reportedly wounded.
The combined Russian-separatist forces attacked Ukrainian army positions in eastern Ukraine 61 times in the past 24 hours, according to the military press center.
"The situation was most tense near the towns of Avdiyivka, Maryinka, Krasnohorivka and the village of Taramchuk. The illegal armed groups fired 120mm and 82mm mortars there and launched over 100 mines. The enemy fired from infantry fighting vehicles and anti-tank missile systems in the direction of the villages of Sokilnyky and Berezove," the report says.
The militants also fired small caliber weapons on the Ukrainian fortified positions near the villages of Novotroyitske, Shyrokyne, Stanytsia Luhanska, Krymske, Hranitne, Luhanske, Butivka coal mine and the town of Schastia.
"The Ukrainian military had to return fire from small arms and rocket-propelled grenades 15 times in order to hold their positions," the headquarters said.
On April 15, during the work of Principal Deputy Chief Monitor of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) to Ukraine Alexander Hug in Donetsk region, the militants committed another provocation against the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"Using heavy machine guns, grenade launchers and small arms near Avdiyivka, the enemy hoped to return fire. But it did not happen. Realizing that the provocation is doomed to fail, the occupiers fired on the territory under their control," the press center said.
