Suspension mechanism will be discussed as early as November 29
A mechanism of alarm suspension of EU free-visa travel regime for Ukraine, Kosovo and Georgia will be discussed on November 29, the RFE/RL correspondent Rikard Jozwiak reports on his Twitter page.
Previously, he reported that the EU authorities had failed to finish developing the visa-free regime suspension mechanism by the end of 2016, so introducing non-visa short travels for Ukraine, Kosovo and Georgia might be postponed until the ending of the presidential elections in France which are due to be held in April-May.
"Trialogue on the visa suspension mechanism tomorrow," the journalist wrote.
The suspension mechanism is announced a necessary option for long-awaited non-visa regime between the EU and the mentioned countries. According to the EU officials statements, it can be triggered in the alarming conditions due to the biggest migrant crisis in Europe since WWII.
Ukraine has successfully fulfilled all 144 options for obtaining non-visa regime with the EU countries, Ukrainian officials note.
