Arrests take place amid fighting which has claimed more lives of Ukraine's servicemen
Three militants have been arrested by Ukraine's law enforcers in the occupied territories of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions. According to Kyiv, they patrolled the streets of the separatists' stronghold Donetsk as well as two other cities.
The accused were given weapons by the so-called local authorities, which they used during their "service". If found guilty, they could be sentenced to up to 8 years in prison for their illegal activities.
The detention took place amid the ongoing battles in the occupied region. Despite the ceasefire agreement, the Russian-backed separatist forces continue to shell the positions of the Ukrainian soldiers.
According to Kyiv, they opened fire 50 times in the past 24 hours. High-calibre machine guns, grenade launchers and 82-mm mortars were used in the shooting. Five Ukrainian soldiers were wounded as a result of the military clashes.
As Kyiv reports, the militants are active along the whole contact line in the occupied areas.
