Ukrainian An-225 'Mriya' carries record large cargo

An-225 'Mriya' arrives in Chile for the first time

The Ukrainian cargo plane An-225 'Mriya' transported a cargo of 182 tonnes during its flight from São Paulo (Brazil) to Santiago (Chile), the UNIAN agency reports. 

The superplane delivered an electric turbine weighing 182 tonnes in a structural construction frame of 27 tonnes.

This constitutes the second largest cargo carried by plane and the biggest cargo flight for Latin America. The world record was hit back in 2009 by 'Mriya' with cargo flight of 187,6 tonnes.

A generator weighing 174 tonnes framed into a construction of 13,6 tonnes, was transported to Yerevan from Frankfurt.

The largest cargo the 'Mriya' has even transported weighted 247 tonnes, although it was not a cargo item.

Earlier, the Ukrainian An-225 stunned the Brazilians at the Viracopos Airport.
