Ukrainian APC blown up in Donbas warzone

Eight Ukrainian servicemen were injured after the blast

A Ukrainian armored personnel carrier was blown up in the conflict zone in eastern Ukraine on May 26. Official Kyiv reported, 8 Ukrainian soldiers were wounded after the blast. They were taken to a military hospital.

"During its combat mission the APC ran over an unidentified explosive object. Preliminary report says it was a landmine. Some soldiers were wounded, but we don't have information about any casualties", Ukraine's military spokesperson Anton Myronovych said in an interview with Ukrainian media outlet 112.

The explosion happened amid "difficult military situation" in the conflict region. According to Ukraine's report, the Russian-backed separatist forces opened fire 30 times during the past 24 hours. They used 82-mm and 120-mm calibre mortars as well as machine guns and sniper rifles.

"The militants continued their provocation on May 27. We have registered at least 8 ceasefire violations since the sunrise", the message said.

Earlier Kyiv reported, two Ukrainian soldiers were captured by the Russian-backed separatists.
