Ukrainian soldier shot and killed by enemy sniper

Kyiv says, militants also suffered heavy losses

One Ukrainian soldier was killed and another six were wounded in fighting against Russian-backed separatist forces on June 27, 2016. According to Kyiv, the serviceman was hit by an enemy sniper near government-held Avdiivka.

Ukraine military said, the militants also suffered heavy losses as nine separatists died in action and another eight were wounded.

The deaths occurred as a result of intense fire exchange between both sides. Kyiv reports, the militants significantly increased their activity as 71 attacks were registered by Ukraine in the past 24 hours.

The combatants used high-caliber machine guns, grenade launchers and 82-mm mortars to target the Ukraine's forces.
