Lesia Voroniuk comes by Ukraine Today to talk about country's unique embroidered costume
Ukraine is preparing to hold the Day of Vyshyvanka, dedicated to the country's traditional outfit. This year marks the 10th anniversary since the festival was created. Around 50 countries are going to join the celebration, which is scheduled for May 19.
"Every region in Ukraine has its own version of Vyshyvanka. It's a symbol of unity, of our self-identification", Lesia Voroniuk, a Ukrainian writer and the initiator of the very festival, says in an interview with Ukraine Today.
Voroniuk and her colleagues are going to present a documentary about the history and cultural meaning of the outfit. The film will be available to watch in Ukraine, Germany, France, Canada and the U.S.
