Euro 16: France has poor defence, Germany is the big favourite - Ukrainian football expert

Chief editor of Ukrainian ProFootball TV programme joins UT to talk about European Championship

Euro 2016 is right here. The football championship kicks off on June 10th in France. Around two million fans are expected to arrive in the country to support their national teams.

Bookmakers have already picked the potential winners of the tournament. Among the favourites are the usual suspects - Germany, Spain, England, Italy and, of course, the host country, France.

However, our football expert Volodymyr Zverov is not so sure about the victory of Les Bleus.

"Attack wins games, but defence wins tournaments, and France lost four key defenders. Their attack can win their group, but will they go to the finals? That's a big question," Zverov said in an interview with UT.

This year's championship stands out due to the unprecedented security measures Paris has taken after the terrorist attacks, which shook the country in late 2015. France has deployed numerous military patrols and police officers in the cities where the football games will be held.
