Ukrainians are still mostly pro-European, although neutral sentiments are also strong
Approximately 46% of Ukrainians support joining the EU, while 30% of them claim against both EU and the Russian-led customs union and adore their a non-aligning policy for the country, a new opinion poll by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology shows.
In particular, only 13% of responders said they supported joining The Customs Union of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Armenia.
Western and central regions turned to be more supportive on the EU, with 72% and 46% of European way backers correspondingly. Over 40% of the population of the southern and eastern regions show bigger enthusiasm upon staying out of both EU and the Customs Union.
28% of southerners and 23% of eastern Ukrainians are strictly pro-European, while 28% and 22% correspondingly support pro-Russian policies, the survey reveals.
