Russian-backed separatist forces continue to use weapons banned under Minsk agreement
Russian-backed separatist forces attacked Ukrainian army positions in eastern Ukraine combat zone 50 times over the last 24 hours, according to the military press centre in Ukraine.
In additions to grenade launchers, machineguns and anti-tank missile systems, the militants used 82mm and 120mm mortar banned under the Minsk agreement.
"Near the village of Pisky, they [the militants] shelled three times using prohibited weapons, near Mayorsk and Zaitseve - two times in each direction, and near Berezove and Maryinka - once in each direction," the press centre said.
The town of Avdiivka remains the major hotspot of hostilities. There, the militants shelled the Ukrainian positions 15 times using mortars. The shelling intensifies over the night.
The Ukrainian servicemen had to fire back eight times over the last day in order to keep back the militants.
