He compares the present shelling intensity to active fighting phase of August 2015.

"As the ATO headquarters estimate, yesterday over 300 mortar shells and more than 160 projectiles were fired at our positions. Enemy forces snipers are also active. We can surely state that fighting has reached the level of August 2015", the spokesperson claimed.

According to Motuzianyk, separatist gang formations shelled the cities of Avdiyivka, Pervomaiske and Vodiane three times overnight.

The most difficult situation is in Donetsk direction, where Russian-backed separatists employ mortars and cannon artillery.

"In particular, militants used mortars in the city of Taramchuk and in the part of the front line Talakivka-Shyrokyne. Enemy snipers opened fire on Maryinka several times", Motuzianyk said.

Yesterday, the Ukrainian military also recorded 7 flights of enemy drones on the frontline.
