Aleppo rebels refuse giving up to Russia

Besieged city of Aleppo

Any withdrawal from the besieged city is a Russian-mastered death trap, militants claim

Rebel forces in Syria refuse to accept the Russian demand to leave their positions in besieged Syrian city of Aleppo, Zakaria Malahifji, a spokesperson of Fastaqim faction told Reuters on Wednesday.

"This is completely out of the question. We will not give up the city of Aleppo to the Russians and we won't surrender", he added.

Previously Russia's defence ministry said that it would allow civilians and militants to leave the city during the halt on air strikes by Russian and Syrian forces.

Russian promises of safe passes proved false, according to militants spokesman.

"It's not true. Civilians and fighters are not leaving. Civilians are afraid of the regime, they don't trust it. And the fighters are not surrendering," he said.
