'Antonov' aircraft manufacturer severed all ties with Russia

All Russian components will be substituted with those of other producers

Ukraine's airplane manufacturing company ‘Antonov' has confirmed all ties have been severed with all Russian enterprises.

In 2016, none of the AN series will be produced, because a number of components shall be missing, according to Andrii Khaustov, deputy head of the advanced development department of ‘Antonov'.

The company will seek to replace missing Russian components with those of other producers to finish production of uncompleted airplanes.

"The absence of cooperation with Russia concerning ‘Antonov' aircraft hasn't eased the life for ‘Antonov'. However, this is not a fatal problem. The cooperation is suspended now", Khaustov commented for the radio station Vesti.

Ukraine's Defense Ministry ordered 3 next generation jetliners from ‘Antonov.' The first plane being ready late 2017.
