Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau arrived in Ukraine's capital.

"Since I became Prime Minister, I wanted to come to Ukraine. Two ministers of Ukrainian origin work for the Canadian government. It is important for me to be here. I know, now Ukraine is experiencing difficult times, in particular - aggression, the country is under attack", Ukrainian media quoted Trudeau as saying.

In June, Ukraine's Ministry of Economic Development and Trade announced that the free trade deal between Canada and Ukraine will be signed in Kyiv on 11-12 July.

Canada and Ukraine reached the free trade agreement in July 2015. The deal will eliminate tariffs on almost all imports and is seen as a signal of Canada's support to an embattled Ukrainian government to build its economy and establish greater ties with the West.

During his visit, Justin Trudeau plans to hold meetings with Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko, Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman and Parliament Chairman Andriy Parubiy.

Canada's Prime Minister intends to lay flowers at the memorial of the 'Heavenly Hundred' (Ukrainian activists that were killed in central Kyiv in 2014 during the Euromaidan revolution), the memorial to Holodomor victims, at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier (World War II victims) and the monument at Babyn Yar in Kyiv.
