Dozens of Ukrainian border patrol officers killed in eastern Ukraine

Ukraine's State Border Guard Service says nearly 70 guards have died since the beginning of the conflict

67 border guards were killed during the two years of anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine, Ukrainian State Border Guard Service reports. More than 400 have been wounded, five soldiers are still considered missing in action.

Five bodies of the killed Ukrainian frontier guards were found on the temporarily Russian-occupied territories. They were returned back to their relatives by volunteers working helping the Ukrainian army.

Ukraine's State Border Guard Service also adds, currently there are no Ukrainian border patrol officers left in the Russian-backed separatist forces' captivity.

Since the beginning of the Anti-Terrorist Operation in eastern Ukraine in 2014 more than 680 frontier guards got state awards, 66 were acknowledged posthumously.
