#DUTCHINUA: Dutch Minister says Ukraine could be world's largest agricultural supplier

Lilianne Ploumen talks mutual cooperation during joint Dutch-Ukrainian forum in the Netherlands 

Ukraine is capable of supplying the whole world with agricultural goods.

This is according to Dutch Foreign Trade Minister Lilianne Ploumen. She stated this during the opening ceremony of the joint Ukrainian-Dutch forum in the city of Nootdorp.

Ms. Ploumen is sure Ukrainian agricultural potential is high enough to provide the European Union with food supplies. The Association Agreement and free trade zone in particular are to assist Kyiv in increasing the cooperation.

According to Ploumen the first step towards the mutual collaboration is cancelling the border taxes. If this is done the floral industry, for instance, is estimated to gain additionally 4,5 million Euros. Still, she stresses, Ukrainian producers need to be ready for the tough competition on the European markets.

The joint Ukrainian-Dutch forum opened on Wednesday, March 30. It is mainly devoted to business and state affairs. The event gathered nearly 300 participants.

Ukraine's Finance Minister Natalie Jaresko headed the Ukrainian delegation.
