In the country's first referendum since 2005, voters will decide on deepening trade and cooperation with Ukraine.

The European Commission says the Dutch referendum on the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union on April 6 is solely an internal matter of The Netherlands and that, only the Dutch should decide. That's according to spokesperson Margaritis Schinas.

He also highlighted the fact 27 EU member states and the European Parliament had already ratified the agreement.

"How countries conduct the ratification process is their national competence", - Schinas emphasized.

The Netherlands will conduct a non-binding referendum on April 6, regarding the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the E.U.
