No injuries reported due to increased shelling
Ukraine's State Border Guard Service reports intensified fire by Russian-backed separatist forces in the war zone in eastern Ukraine. According to the Service's statement, during the past 24 hours the combined Russian-separatist forces shelled fortified positions where the Ukrainian border guards were stationed along with the Armed Forces soldiers.
The shots from both small arms as well as heavy artillery came from the direction of the occupied city of Horlivka. According to the Ukrainian border patrol, Russian-backed separatists used 120mm mortars and grenade launchers near the checkpoint of Maiorsk.
The statement clarified the Ukrainians did not return fire. There were no injuries sustained among the servicemen.
