Philip Hammond expects Ukraine's new government to urgently focus on reforms implementation
On April 15, British Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond welcomed Ukraine's newly appointed government and said that a key task for Ukrainian authorities is to completely eradicate corruption.
In his official statement Hammond said: "I congratulate Prime Minister Groysman on his appointment, and the Rada's approval of his Cabinet and Government Programme. It is vitally important that Ukraine's new government builds on the progress made by its predecessor and continues to implement reforms and root out corruption.
I hope that the new government will urgently focus on: judicial reform; growing Ukraine's economy; and supporting the National Anti-Corruption Bureau, which has been established with U.K. support."
Hammond also said that the U.K. will continue supporting Ukraine in implementing the Minsk ceasefire deal to help secure stability in country: "We will continue to support Ukraine's implementation of the Minsk Agreements and provide technical and defence assistance. We will work with our Ukrainian partners to deliver the stable, secure and prosperous country which Ukraine's citizens rightly demand."
