Two heads of state meet at the NATO Summit in Warsaw
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has expressed support for Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty, and once again condemned the oppression of Crimean Tatars in the occupied Crimea.
The parties had a meeting on the sidelines of the NATO Summit in Warsaw, according to the press service of the president of Ukraine.
Poroshenko expressed condolences to the Turkish people over the tragedy at the Istanbul Airport.
"The Turkish President expressed support for Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty, and once again condemned the oppression of Crimean Tatars in the occupied Crimea," the press service reports.
Poroshenko and Erdogan agreed to further coordinate actions in the sphere of regional security and intensification of economic cooperation between the two states.
"Erdogan emphasized that nothing would affect the reinforcement of the Ukraine-Turkey strategic partnership," the report reads. The parties also reached an agreement on holding the regular session of the High-Level Strategic Council under the co-chairmanship of the Presidents of Ukraine and Turkey in Kyiv.
The Heads of State instructed Foreign Ministers to hold preparations to the given session.
Poroshenko expressed gratitude to the Turkish side for the recent decision to increase the period of visa-free stay in Turkey for Ukrainians from 60 to 90 days during the 180-day period. In this context, the President of Turkey noted the increasing number of Ukrainian tourists.
