Tusk stresses Ukraine cooperation in Trump call

Ukraine cautiously waiting for US President-elect to reveal his intensions regarding Russian aggression

The President of the European Council Donald Tusk emphasized the necessity to cooperate on Ukraine during his phone call with the US President-elect Donald Trump on Friday, November 18, an EU source said, according to AFP.

‘Tusk congratulated Trump on his election, invited him for an EU-US summit and emphasized transatlantic cooperation including regarding Ukraine', the source said on condition of anonymity.

Trump's response on Ukraine was not revealed, but he invited Tusk to the White House after his inauguration on January 20.

Tusk also spoke with Ukraine's Poroshenko on the phone.

The two leaders also discussed ‘transatlantic cooperation on the Ukraine-Russia conflict and preparation for the EU-Ukraine summit, scheduled to take place next Thursday.
