Ukrainian membership will create new economic opportunities for the Netherlands, Ukraine and Europe
Elizabeth Trudeau, a spokeswoman for the U.S. State Department has declared the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the E.U. is in the best interests of the Netherlands and the whole of Europe.
"We believe the E.U.-Ukraine Association Agreement is critical to ensuring that Ukraine's leaders continue to make the needed and important reforms that will contribute to a more peaceful, democratic, prosperous and stable continent," Elizabeth Trudeau told a briefing.
"It will provide new economic opportunities for the Netherlands, for Ukraine and for Europe as a whole," Trudeau said.
The referendum in the Netherlands on the E.U.-Ukraine Association Agreement is set to take place on April 6. If a majority votes 'no', the Dutch government may apply for the deal to be cancelled.
