Poland "will not hesitate" if there is a need to change the EU treaty, says Witold Waszczykowski
The European Union needs reforming and Poland will not hesitate to support new initiatives even if it comes to changing the Treaty of Lisbon, Polish Foreign Minister Witold Waszczykowski said while speaking to the local TVN24 channel.
"For many months we've been pushing for the EU reforms. We want to take advantage of Brexit discussions. Since not only British people want it," he said.
According to Waszczykowski, British decision to withdraw from the EU gives the block an opportunity for change and "creates a possibility for cultural counter-revolution".
Poland's top diplomat adds the EU needs to redetermine power and authority of its main bodies, such as the European Commission, the European Council, and the European Parliament.
"We will not hesitate if it comes to reforming the EU treaty, but today changes are possible without touching it," Waszczykowski said.
