Fighting spikes in eastern Ukraine

Number of Ukraine's wounded and killed servicemen continues to grow

Six Ukrainian soldiers were wounded in military clashes with the Russian-backed separatist forces in the past 24 hours. All these soldiers were injured in Donetsk region.

Official Kyiv reported, the militants violated the relative lull in the area 20 times on May 20. They were active along the whole contact line in the conflict zone.

"The separatists attacked our positions with 82-mm and 120-mm mortars, they also used assault and sniper rifles", the officials said.

Ukraine's military also registered militants' attempts to gather information about the positions and numbers of the Ukrainian soldiers. 7 drones were spotted near government-held Mariupol and Mariinka.

The separatists also resumed their attacks on the morning of May 21. They reportedly violated the ceasefire 6 times.

The number of Ukraine's wounded and killed servicemen continues to grow every day. On May 20 Kyiv reported, one soldier died and another seven were injured after military clashes with the separatists.
