Ukraine can count on Germany's help and support, German Minister says
The economic cooperation between Germany, the E.U. and Ukraine must become a major European project for the next 10 years.
This was stated by Gerd Müller, Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development, during a meeting with Ukraine's Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman, Ukrainian officials report
"The cooperation between Germany, the E.U. with Ukraine must become the largest European economic project over the next 10 years. We fully agree and endorse your government program. We believe in this approach because your government is sending the right signals to Europe," said Müller.
Volodymyr Groysman said that Ukraine has 4,500 enterprises with German capital. In the meantime, EUR 600 million worth of German technical aid projects are implemented in in the country.
The parties also agreed to speed up implementation of German business projects in Ukraine. For this purpose, the intergovernmental consultation on sustainable development of Ukraine will take place in Kyiv, in autumn 2016.
Also Groysman and Müller discussed a number of issues including a local level cooperation between the two countries, implementation of energy efficiency projects in Ukraine, establishment and launch of the Energy Efficiency Fund, as well as Germany's support in reforming Ukraine's customs service.
"You can count on Germany's help and support ", said Müller. He also noted that "it is important to start the process, so that Germany's economy will invest in the Ukrainian economy."
