Hundreds rally against authorities in Russian Artyomovsk

People calling for better living conditions and business environment

Several hundred people took to the streets of the Russian town, Artyomovsk in protest against the authorities.

Demonstrators gathered at a square in the centre of the town, where a monument of former Soviet leader, Vladimir Lenin, stands, calling for better living conditions, long-sought housing repairs and the reelection of the authorities.

Residents of the town with a population of around 30,000, say they are under pressure of poverty and unemployment. Many blame the governor, mayor and regional parliament for inactivity.
