Andrzej Duda will come to Kyiv for the 25th anniversary of Ukraine's independence
A joint political declaration of Ukrainian and Polish presidents which is to be signed during a visit of Polish President Andrzej Duda to Kyiv is of utmost importance for the reconciliation of the two nations in the context of historic events, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin said in an interview to the Interfax-Ukraine news agency.
"First, we must not be afraid to accept the historical truth. On the other hand, we need to be responsible and not to play with political assessments where moral understanding is necessary" he said answering the question about whether a joint declaration of the presidents could put an end to the souring of bilateral relations due to historical events.
Ukraine's Foreign Minister added that he, personally, attached great importance to both Duda's visit and the planned declaration.
Klimkin also informed that Ukraine suggested Polish President to jointly address the Council of Ambassadors with his Ukrainian counterpart on August 24.
